SUBJECT: Investment Opportunity: Investing in an Easier Way To Manage Housing

Hello Mr Hansen, my name is Aaron Voskani and I am apart of the Research & Development team here at AMDP, in which my job is to find and research possible investment or funding opportunities on a weekly basis. After some due diligence and research into a particular company called DoorLoop. DoorLoop is the highest rated software company online for landlords and property managers to use in order to screen tenants, communicate with tenants, collect rent, and manage their property all in one place.

AMDP Standards

Prior to diving into the investment opportunity, I would like to display AMDP's standards that come into consideration when it comes to investing in companies.

Triple Bottom Line

Profit: The financial gain after subtracting costs from revenue

People: Accountability in taking care of customers, employees, and its surroundings

Planet: Takes into account the impact the company has on the environment

Corporate Social Responsibility: Corporate Social Responsibility is when a business has a model that is self regulating which helps the company be held accountable to its stakeholders, itself, and the public. (Jason Fernando)

Social Enterprise: Social Enterprise is when a business has specific social objectives as its primary goal all while consisting of a commercial formation to run the organization. It is the art of having a strong societal impact while maximizing profit as well. (CFI)

Carbon Footprint: A Carbon Footprint is the amount of CO2 emissions related with the activities of a person or entity. Including direct emissions from manufacturing, heating, and transportation. It often also includes other greenhouse gases like methane and nitrous oxide. (Noelle)

Triple Bottom Line & How It Applies to DoorLoop

DoorLoop has consistently shown its efforts in the aspect of accountability in social enterprise. Recently, in 2022 DoorLoop had promised to donate 1% of all of its profits to the Ronald Mcdonald House For Charity. RMHC’s mission is to provide housing, medical care, and resources to underprivileged families in 62 countries. The commitment from DoorLoop to help landlords and tenants who are underprivileged proves true to their mission to make the world a better place. Not only are they donating to RMHC but they are appointing 20 hours of paid time off for all their employees to implement some kind of voluntary community service (Bitton).

This initiative fits into the key point at which AMDP looks at as far as its standards when investing into companies. Their charitable work along with appointing paid time off for community service to their employees fits into the social enterprise and corporate social responsibility standards that AMDP implicates into all of their investments business model.

Making Management Manageable

DoorLoop, founded in 2019, is a software which allows landlords and tenants of all asset types (Retail, Industrial, Office, Residential, Etc.) to be able to communicate effectively, stay on top of current payments. From listing vacant units, to screening tenants, to maintenance requests, and everything in between, this software makes it easier and more manageable for landlords to become efficient while also saving money.

In August of 2024, the company raised $20 million in Series A funding from a software group (Ori). Ori, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, said in the same article, "Our software and company are what they are because of your collaborative spirit, your groundbreaking minds, and your absolutely amazing sense of fun. You don’t just make DoorLoop the best property management software out there; you make DoorLoop an incredible place to work every single day". Ori showcases that part of the reason why the company is successful and has seen the growth it has is partly due to the team spirit and collaborative environment that they produce.

Other Point of Views

For AMDP, I understand how important it is to get the point of views from other industry related professionals as to what the company is and how they operate. Finances Online, a website that thoroughly reviews businesses around the world, analyzed DoorLoop and had some things to say in regards to the company. Finances Online mentioned that DoorLoop addresses key concerns from not only property owners, but also for tenants alike. They have the software ranked as their #1 ranked property management software and have nothing but high praise for the platform saying the platform offers onboarding and support while streamlining property management tasks (Gilbert).

Another opinion of the company is provided by the website SoftwareConnect. The company specializes in reviewing softwares for businesses that are based on an app. The website mentioned that DoorLoop is perfect for “property managers with over 20 units and serves a wide range of industries”. They also mentioned a couple cons when analyzing the app itself, saying that in order to have support you need to have the pro subscription and that the “ACH payments are not included in the starter plan” (Boehm).

Final Opinion

Based on the information provided above, I do not think that AMDP should pass on the opportunity to invest in DoorLoop. DoorLoop checks off all our standards and then some. With the combination of our investment standards and a strength of growth and profit, I believe that we should invest into the company and make lives for landlords and tenants across the world much more affordable and manageable in their everyday lives.
