World We Dare To Imagine Pt. 3

Many students face challenges that make academic and personal success difficult to achieve, but Future Focus Tutors aims to bridge this gap with free or affordable tutoring and mentorship. Future Focus Tutors would aim to help young students, mainly in high school or middle school, on developing a stronger way to attack and deal with problems both in their life and in school. The ways that we will achieve this is by having the mentors that we hire, be strictly volunteers who would be recruited from local colleges, communities, and businesses. 

Tutoring sessions would be at a local library or schools and we would be able to take advantage of zoom to allow for accessibility for specific students. The lessons that one would learn could be used for either studies in school or to help deal with stressful situations outside of the classroom. Each student will have an assessment to determine their strength, weaknesses, and specific needs for their unique situation. 

These volunteers would not act as a psychiatrist for the young adults, but more as someone they can look up to and come to for advice in school or personal life. More and more young kids feel isolated nowadays and Future Focus Tutors would help eliminate some of the isolations that these kids feel with a figure in their life who is there to help them. 

As far as community involvement we would have local businesses and organizations sponsor materials, technology, or even offer scholarships for one student every year for outstanding progress and achievements. Parents would be updated regularly on their child's progress to keep them in the loop on what kind of results they are getting with the organization. 

I think, in order for the future generation to become strong, passionate, and driven, people which would make the world a better place, they need to have or develop skills that help them problem solve both socially, academically, and professionally. Future Focus Tutors will enable these kids to help think in depth in regards to their school and social life and ultimately allow them to make better decisions on their own, helping to stay away from bad influences and scenarios that may take them down the wrong path.

Book 1 Post 2

 After reading Brian Cox's book, Putting The Rabbit In the Hat, there are a few key takeaway that I was able to come back with. Not only was his upbringing filled with hard ship and sadness, but it showed how those hardships ultimately led him to becoming the person he is today and how it impacted his fruitful acting career. He started off with loving theater and he had a deep connection with the Dundee theater in Scotland. He was extremely passionate about Shakespeare and mentioned how the major turning point of his career was the when he spent his time at the RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company).  One thing I found interesting while reading the book was that he talks about his peer actors and his opinions about them. He mentioned that Johny Depp is overrated. He also talks about Michael Caine's career as being able to do the same thing over and over again. Book 2 Post 1

 For book number two I have decided to choose the option, The Science of Creating a Compassionate World, more specifically  Invisible Influence: The Hidden Forces that Shape Behavior . Even before reading the book I took interest into the title. The recent events with a variety of different conflicts between countries, within countries, and even personal, I looked at the title and thought, the world could really use this right now. One thing that I have always been taught at home is to have compassion and to always try to understand why people do what they do and try not to judge someone based off surface level actions or statements.  One goal that I have going into reading this is to try to develop different ways other than my current practices of being compassionate and understand the rules of what drives my actions and point out which rules are negatively effecting my life.
